So Much Purpose, So Little Time

This faith-based presentation describes God’s call for us to live lives of impact that leave a lasting legacy.  It is based on Psalm 90:12. Teach us to number our days aright so that we may gain a heart of wisdom. This verse is about prioritizing our lives and thinking about what’s truly important. There is so much need in the world, and we only have a number of days. There’s a tension between the temporal and the eternal – our short life here and our eternal life. The goals are different. The paths are different.

This world is a hard place to maintain a lifestyle that’s surrendered to God. Wealth accumulation is held up as the ideal: risk management, peace of mind, freedom, security. Lack of accumulation is something to be feared. So the goal of life is to build up the pile. But God wants us to renew our mind, challenge the status quo, and think about His purposes creatively. The local church is where we can be encouraged to connect to God’s purpose. It gives us a place to find out how and to see results by adding our voice and resources.

If we are going to serve God with our money, we need to have a plan – one that helps us discover how to attach our values to our money. This presentation is a powerful spark for reflection and conversation about life’s purpose and our personal legacy.
